The Merrilyn is an Australian New Vogue or sequence dance suitable for debutante sets. Here is it demonstrated and called by Bruce Lemin while being danced at the Bundanoon DanceFest 2012. I am assured it is one of the easier dances for Deb sets to learn! • Cliams of the origin of the Merrilyn vary.It could be choreographed originally by John Fahey in the 1940s and named after his daughter. It took some time to infilatrate dance halls in Australia and was reported by Peter Ellis as a Merrilyn Schottische 1964.Don Herbitson-Evans claims it was not published until the late 70s but choreographed by Clara Misdale in Sydney in 1964 • The Bundanoon DanceFest is held by the Bush Traditions Orginaization whch promotes Australia's cultural heritage including all forms of social dance. • http://www.bushtraditions.org/bundano...
