Weezer never wrote anything past 1996 that actually sounded like Pinkerton. No, not DYWGH either, although it comes close. So why put together this collection? • While there's no post-90s Weezer that really captures that exact Pinkerton sound, there's echoes of the pathos, that deeply confessional, highly dramatic, operatic, controlled chaos that defines Pinkerton across their modern discography and that's what I wanted to capture here. Rivers may have become older and wiser, but he never stopped quite stopped writing songs like a teenager yearning for love and lust.
