I am a bit late this week on getting this video out, because I spent some additional time looking into the root cause for the poor performance under btfs for Fedora Workstation 38. Fedora Silverblue 38 also uses btrfs as its default filesystem and does to some degree exhibit the same performance issues as Workstation, however to a much lesser degree. So another variable is added to the list of those to check. Fedora Silverblue is the GNOME Desktop version of their immutable Fedora distro. There are two other spins: Fedora CoreOS and Fedora Kinolite. CoreOS is meant for container deployments and Kinolite is a KDE Desktop version. • And Yes, the thumbnail is another image I generated using AI, I was looking for a futuristic ship with many compartments, similar to the way Fedora Silverblue manages packages and applications, and this is what I got back. • 00:00 - Intro • 00:13 - Overview • 01:52 - Manual Partitioning • 02:02 - OSTree • 03:32 - rpm-ostree • 04:43 - Where else is OSTree used? • 05:03 - Preferred Way to deploy Apps • 05:33 - toolbox • 06:15 - System Requirements • 07:07 - Linux Kernel 6.2 • 07:20 - Changes to Silverblue 38 • 08:01 - Final Thoughts • 08:53 - Benchmarks • Support me on Patreon: / djware • Follow me: • Twitter @djware55 • Facebook: / don.ware.7758 • Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/djware27 • #FedoraSilverblue38 #Fedora #Linux #Reviews
