Song Info • Song Title: Roundabout • Album: Fragile • Label: Atlantic • Genre: Progressive Rock • ‘Roundabout’ was released as a single in the US, in January 1972. The song was included on Fragile, the fourth album by Yes. ‘Roundabout’ was written by vocalist Jon Anderson and guitarist Steve Howe. In September of 1971 Yes started recording Fragile at Advision Studios. The record included four group tracks and five solo performances. ‘Roundabout’ blends the complexity of prog rock with more immediately accessible melodic elements in the vocal, creating an effective blend. Howe and Anderson received a BMI Award for the song. ‘Roundabout’ reached no.13 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and became one of Yes’ best known songs. It was the band’s highest charting single until 1984 when ‘Owner Of A Lonely Heart’, produced by Trevor Horn, topped the US charts. • The Rockschool Classics Drums series, from Grades 1 to 8, contains a collection of classic and contemporary rock tracks.
