Hazardous locations are classified in North America, using two different classification systems: the Class-division and the Zone system. It is important to know how they differ. This animation focuses on Class 1 Division 2. • Class 1 means that the location contains flammable gases, flammable liquid-produced vapours, or combustible liquid produced vapours. • Division 2 means a location where an explosive atmosphere does not exist under normal operating conditions but, if it does occur, it will persist for a short period only. A Division 2 area might be created during repair or maintenance activities, accidental rupture of a vessel or container or failure of a ventilating system. Division 2 is also the area immediately adjacent to a Division 1 location. • If you are a product designer, or a buyer, and need an electrical device that has been certified for Class I Division 2, the Hazloc Directory website can help! • Hazloc Directory is the world's most trusted source of information about hazardous location products manufacturers. • HAZLOC DIRECTORY • www.hazlocdirectory.com • Background Music: https://www.bensound.com
