I obtained this audio from a young relative of UC Berkeley's master of West African EWE drum dance and song: Professor CK Ladzekpo. My source told me this was an album that he found in their house... • Agbadza or Agbadja is a recreational dance form found in Ghana (Volta region), Benin, Togo, and even in Ewe-speaking areas of Western Nigeria, or wherever expat Ewe's may find themselves! • For many non-Ewes, all Ewe music is Agbadza, in perhaps the same way that people unfamiliar with Latin music might call everything and anything by the term salsa. • There are at least 2 different types of Agbadza... Kpoka, heard here, is the slower style, and the lead Sogo drum is played with hands. Versus the Ageshie style, which is faster, and lead by the enormous Atsimevu, played with sticks... • MANY THANKS to Chapeauson Tokoin Dogbeavou for uploading half a dozen videos of the great Gbessi Zolawadji, including one with the final 5 minutes of this song!! I created my collage using stills taken from the video presentation. •    • Migniba - Gbessi Zolawadji
