Groups of students have to cross the floor using teamwork in this cooperative activity, demonstrated by Carlos Rodriguez and students of Rogers Street Academy. • • Radio Active River is an excellent activity for early in the school year to develop teamwork. The video is probably used best as an example of how to set up and implement the lesson. • • Grade level: 5-8 • • Addresses Wisconsin Physical Education Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. • • Requires: 5-6 poly spots per group • • This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. http://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/physicaled.html • • Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Carlos Rodriguez, Rogers Street Academy, and the students!
