I have a thin client addiction. You all have seen my 3x Dell Wyse 5060 Hyperconverged Cluster project. And you know that I bought a Wyse 3040. But, I actually bought 3x 3040s, and someone sent me a Wyse 7010, and an HP T620 (yet to be reviewed). And now I bought another. Today, it's an HP T530. • I'd consider this to be an excellent choice for anyone wanting to run Home Assistant, since it has enough power for, an upgradeable M.2 storage slot, and can handle a Coral TPU for Frigate using the M.2 WiFi slot (but not in the storage slot). It's also a bit more modern than the Dell units, using DDR4 (only single channel though) and sporting a USB-C port and more USB 3.0 ports. That said, it's a lower end CPU and GPU compared to the 5060. • Link to my blog post with more technical details: • https://www.apalrd.net/posts/2022/hp_... • My Discord Server, where you can carry on the discussion or suggest future topics: • / discord • If you find my content useful and would like to support me, feel free to here: https://ko-fi.com/apalrd • eBay affiliate link to help you find T530's: • https://ebay.us/vjcuy4 • Timestamps: • 00:00 - Introduction • 01:14 - Teardown • 02:42 - Linux Testing • 04:36 - Video Playback • 05:39 - Speaker! • 08:17 - M.2 SSD Compatibility • 10:57 - M.2 WiFi Compatibility • 12:31 - BIOS Options, PXE Boot • 13:04 - Conclusions • Some links to products may be affiliate links, which may earn a commission for me.
