The grueling 75 km West Coast Trail in British Columbia just got slightly easier! Parks Canada built the Logan Creek Suspension Bridge on Canada’s iconic trail in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The 113-metre-long suspension bridge offers stunning views of Logan Creek 40 metres below as it empties into the Pacific Ocean and replaces the old ladder-and-bridge crossing. • The bridge lies in the traditional territory of the Pacheedaht First Nation, who call the area wi?e:? (pronounced wi-eh). Building the bridge in such a remote location was a challenge: bridge components, tools and machinery had to be flown in and out by helicopter. Each trip was strategically planned around the same natural forces that make the hike so arduous: heavy rain, fog banks, and high winds.
