Crohn’s can be a pain but I try my best to focus on ways to make food flavourful and fun to still get satisfaction from my meals βΊοΈ • Here is why I eat what I do…. • π Blended and baked oats for breakfast are easy to prepare and satisfying. Oats contain soluble fibre which is helpful when bowel movements are loose. I like adding hemp hearts to mine for added protein and omega 3 fats - plus blending them makes them WAY more tolerable for me. • π Today’s snack was a peeled apple and peanut butter - sometimes I add chocolate chips on top too! Peeling the apple is what works best for my stricture as well as chewing my food to an applesauce consistency. This ensures things pass through smoothly! • π Tuna is almost always in my pantry and is a quick ‘go to lunch’ that’s easy on the guts. Raw veggies are hard for me right now due to the stricture so blended soups have been great this winter. Squash is also rich in fibre, as well as vitamin A, and vitamin C which are antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body. • π΅ Peppermint tea is a go to for me after meals as it can help decrease bloating and gut spasms. • π₯ Supper was a new honey mustard salmon recipe with carrots and potatoes (cooked well) and was a great way to add omega 3 fats, fibre, flavour, and fun to a meal! • βοΈ π« Not pictured: my morning coffee and a little heart shaped brownie I made for love day because I accidentally deleted the video π€ͺπ • ‘What I Eat in a Day’ videos can be helpful to gain inspiration and show what is possible for IBD π₯³ • Don’t forget that everyone with IBD has individual preferences, varying levels of tolerance to foods, and will be in a different stage of the disease process. • Eating this way works for me, and ensures I am enjoying food and prioritizing my gut health π • #crohnsdisease #ibd #inflammatoryboweldisease #antiinflammatoryfoods #whatieatinaday #ibdfriendly #ibddietitian #celiacdisease #ibdmeals #ibdwarrior #ibdcommunity #ibdfamily #ibdawareness #ibdfriendly #ibdnutritionist
