That tradition of focusing on technical development still is ongoing in our time, taking the great music of Beethoven and others far outside the context of their time. • Since an orchestra is still a distant dream for me, digitally adjusting tempi of existing recordings provide at least an impression of how music of that time could have been meant. • The sound quality is not always what one expects today, and of course these performances were not “designed” around these tempi. It is no more than an impression. But an impression of how Beethoven and others might have thought their music. For the record: I will only use recordings of a relatively distant past. • At the premiere of the Eroica (1805), we read in the AMZ Leipzig that the complete work lasted a complete hour (eine ganze Stunde). Carl Czerny reports someone shouted from the gallery I'd pay another 'Kreutzer' when it stops now . • -- • 💿 My recent recording of Pachelbel's Hexachordum Apollinis (Vinyl, CD, Flac) here: http://bit.ly/Pachelbel_Hexachordum • -- • 📩One weekly mail in your mailbox? 👉http://bit.ly/as-mailinglist • -- • 👩🎓 Check out my course on Keyboard Technique: 👉http://bit.ly/Keyb-Tech • -- • 📱 Website: ▶http://www.authenticsound.org • #wholebeatimpressions #beethovenreconstructed #temporesearch
