Likewise she pulls with a crowd of unbaptized, deceased children through the air. • But Perchten are also called those bustling and fearsome, devil-like figures who run about in the Salzburg Pongau in parades in the last Raunacht through the places and only have tradition there. This kind of Perchten are also called Schiachperchten. • Schönperchten, on the other hand, have a long tradition here in Upper Austria: the Glöckler, who are out and about on the night of 5 to 6 January with their brightly lighted, colorful light caps and heavy bells, are among the beautiful people. • Perchten are figures of the Raunächte • In the 2000s, own Perchten associations have emerged, with as eerie as possible sounding names, which deliver their performances regardless of the time of the Raunächte. These performances, which usually take place in Advent with Bengal fires and horror masks, are also confused with Krampus usage. These events delight large crowds. • As early as mid-October, the first announcements about Perchtenläufen or the latest mega-Perchtenläufen are to be heard, to read, one on neon-colored announcement boards on the roadside in the eye. • These announcements do not concern - as one would expect - the Perchtennacht, 5 January, but embellishments of various Advent markets and events with Bengal fires in the months of November and December! • Perchten and Krampus runs around the 5th of December have become an attraction - disguised as a typical custom by the Original Teufel-Pass from XY. • Schiachperchten have no tradition in Upper Austria at all and certainly not in November and the quiet Advent in December! • The Krampus belongs in contrast to the Schiachperchten after Upper Austria and is companion of the Nicholas. It is part of the Advent tradition, while all kinds of Perchten belong to the Rautachtsbrauchtum. • Since the Middle Ages, it has been customary for kind children to be rewarded by Nicholas and all naughty children to be reprimanded by his companion, the awesome Krampus. These educational measures began in 17th-century convent schools. • Upper Austria is so rich in wonderfully grown advent customs. Consider, for example, the Nigloumzug in Windischgarsten or the Midlao in St. Roman - customs that currently fit. • It is to be feared, however, that inflationary occurring Perchtenläufe, which are undoubtedly public appeal and behind which are tourism association and local restaurants, flood the grown in us, perhaps even quieter Advent customs.
