🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 SAUSAGE ROLLS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 • Who can resist a homemade sausage roll, they are simply the best! Flakey puff pastry is so easy to buy ready made these days, which just leaves you to make a tasty filling! • Makes 8 sausage rolls • 500g minced beef and pork (50/50) • 1 medium brown onion grated • 1 medium carrot peeled grated • 2 egg yolks • 1 clove garlic finely grated • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves (dried also fine) • 1 tsp black pepper • 1 tsp white pepper • Half tsp salt • 2 tbsp fine oatmeal • Good dash of Worcestershire sauce • 2 tbsp RH brown sauce, or use your favourite relish • Mix well together by hand. Put mixture into a piping bag and prepare your pastry. Buy good quality puff pastry, I use an Aussie brand @caremepastry which comes in a roll. Dust the surface with flour to stop sticking then pipe a thick sausage onto the length of the Pastry. Mix the leftover egg whites with a little milk and use to wet the edges before rolling. I find it easier to cut with scissors and cut each of mine into 4. • Place on a baking tray, make three wee cuts in the top of each then brush with the egg white/milk mixture, and sprinkle with nigella seeds. • Bake in a pre heated oven at 180c fan forced for 30-40 minutes till golden brown. Leave to cool on a wire rack a little before serving. So delicious!
