Well, legally it’s not a Spiced Rum. It’s actually a Spirit based Drink…aka a Liqueur…because it’s only 35% ABV. But don’t let that put you off. It’s distilled over in Barbados using Molasses from all over the Caribbean. The name Bumbu is an old Pirate word “Grog”, which loosely translates into a drink with spices. So a blend of different rums with lots of spices in such as Vanilla, Ginger, Allspice, Clove, Cinnamon etc etc. • On the nose, this really reminds me of Banoffee pie. Lots of tropical notes and lots of Toffee. Caramel and Vanilla too. Then on the taste, it’s quite deceptive as although you think it’s going to be sickly sweet, it’s actually quite a light on the finish. Still a lot more viscous that a lot of Rums, purely because of the amount of added sugar, but it’s not like Lambs for example which is very viscous and clings to the glass. You also get plenty of those Tropical notes again. Hints of Banana. A little spice. Mainly cinnamon. • As far as mixing it goes, My favourite serve is with Pineapple Soda from old Jamaica. I think the fruitier mixers play well here. Coke and ginger beer do work, but they are not my favourite. In fact, Cawston Press apple ginger Juice is a lot better in my opinion. • • ___________________________________________________________________ • FIND ME AT; • ======== • Check my awesome Bar Store; https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/steveth... • My home of Drinks related awesomeness!! • Bar Tools • Purées • Cocktail Bitters • Mixers • Cocktail Books • Glassware • To Hire me to help you celebrate an Event, or for some Cocktail/Drinks Training for your Pub or Bar; https://www.stevethebarman.com • Facebook; / thirstfirstuk • Instagram; / stevethebarman • Twitter; / stevethebarman_ • LinkedIn; / stevetbarman • • WHO AM I? • I'm Steve the Barman. • I help you Drink, Enjoy and Serve Better Drinks. • Cornish, now living in Cambridge. 25+ years Bartending.
