Legendary Skateboarder Z Boys Member Jay Adams, who was reportedly vacationing with his wife in Mexico, died of an apparent heart attack on Thursday, August 14, TMZ reports. The legendary skater and original Z Boys member was 53 years-old. • Jay was reportedly enjoying an extended stay in Mexico, a “long surfing holiday”, when he unexpectedly died. • Jay, a former drug addict, had allegedly been sober for months and had no history of heart problems, TMZ reports. He was loved by many, including a number of celebrities who have been celebrating Jay’s life on Twitter, so this news is definitely hard to swallow. • Fellow skater Stacy Peralta, a founding member of the Z Boys, confirmed the news of Jays death and posted this photo on Instagram. • “I just received the terribly sad news that Jay Adams passed away last night due to a massive heart attack, send your love,” Stacy captioned the picture. • Jay, who was a skateboarding legend, was a bit of a bad boy, on and off the course. He was convicted of felony assault in 1982, following a fight at a concert. For that incident, he spent six months in jail. • Furthermore, he spiraled into drug addiction in the 1980s and 1990. In 2005, Jay was arrested for taking part in a drug deal. He was released in 2008 and appeared to have finally learned his lesson. • A year before his death, Jay reportedly visited schools, where he did warn kids about the dangers of drugs, Hollywood Take reports. • “Those were the states of youth,” Jay recently said. “The 70s and 80s were a different time. With punk rock there was a lot of violence and being young, drinking alcohol and making bad choices. Now I want to encourage people not to go down the same road I went down.” • Earlier this year, another member of the famed Dog town Z Boys passed away.
