Explains how to calculate the capacitance of a capacitor. • A capacitor is a passive electronic device that stores electric charge on its plates and electrical energy in its electric field. A capacitor contains at least two electrical conductors such as metal plates that are separated by a dielectric. The insulating dielectric acts to keep the metal plates isolated from each other and to increase the capacitor's ability to store charge. Materials commonly used as dielectrics include glass, ceramic, plastic film, paper, mica and air. Unlike a resistor, an ideal capacitor does not dissipate energy. The SI unit of capacitance is the farad (F), which is defined as one coulomb per volt (1 C/V). • You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, http://www.stepbystepscience.com • Link for sharing this video:    • Capacitors (4 of 9) Calculating the C...   • Support my channel by doing all of the following: • (1) Subscribe, get all my physics, chemistry and math videos • (2) Give me a thumbs up for this video • (3) Leave me a positive comment • (4) Share is Caring, sharing this video with all of your friends
