Western audiences first got the oppurtunity to see Mutoh work in the United States thanks to Mutoh's learning excursions to Florida during the mid 80s (working as The White Ninja) and again in Puerto Rico and World Class in Dallas (as The Super Black Ninja). It was really Mutoh's national exposure in the NWA affiliated WCW though that gained him the biggest following with American Wrestling fans. Working as The Great Muta, Keiji Mutoh became a regular on WCW programming beginning in March 1989.
