My acoustic cover of Black by Pearl Jam from Ten, the first video from Pearl Jam Month of my channel. • This song is simply stunning. It is one of the greatest singles of all time that was somehow never actually released as a single! Unthinkable for any band other than Pearl Jam. They say the simple songs are often the best and whilst this is true of this song in terms of the guitar chords, the vocal melody is anything but, and thats what makes it great. • I like nothing more than a live version of this song and last week, I saw Pearl Jam twice and they played it both times! I've had it before but I dont think I've ever had it back to back before so that was nice. I follow the bands bootlegs on nugs.net too and I was amazed when they opened with it in Seattle a few weeks ago. A new one I'm chasing live? Black as opener. I only ever listen to live versions these days anyway. • Its a song I've always loved but lyrically, as stunning as it is, it never really meant much to me until quite recently. Now, I know what Eddie was feeling in when he wrote those lyrics. I'm pretty good at applying the Stanislavsky Method to singing but it always helps when you have first hand experience of what the singer is singing. I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky but why cant it be mine? • I did a cover of Black last year in Nashville Tuning but it was one of the first videos I uploaded after a 4 year break so I had a very small number of subscribers at the time. It also wasn't a true version due to the high strung guitar so I wanted another shot at it. • Hope you enjoyed this version, thank you for watching and if you can afford it why not buy me a pint or a coffee over at https://buymeacoffee.com/samsmithmcr • Check out my original material at https://open.spotify.com/user/1112522... • • Find me on Facebook at / theparishchurchfire
