We'll show you how to make each strand and how to combine them together so they become one gorgeous layered necklace. We love how it looks like three necklaces, but it goes on easily with one clasp. • How To Make A Multi Strand Necklace With A Charm • Materials • Elephant charm, gold, 14mmx16mm • 17 Fine gold chain • 18 Bead chain, gold with 2mm turquoise crystals • 26-gauge wire, gold • 19-strand bead stringing wire, gold • 11/0 size seed beads, turquoise, amber, gold, cobalt, and clear • 2 Clamshell bead tips, gold • 2 Crimp beads, gold, size #1 • Toggle clasp • Chain-nose pliers • Round-nose pliers • Wire cutters • Steps • 1. Make the Beaded Strand: To create the first necklace using bead stringing, start by cutting an 18 piece of bead stringing wire. Place a Bead Bug or masking tape on one end of the bead stringing wire. Feed the seed beads onto the wire until you have 16” beaded. Feed the wire up through the bottom of the clamshell. Slide a crimp bead onto the wire. Using the chain-nose pliers, flatten the crimp bead onto the wire. Close the clamshell over the crimped crimp bead. Attach the loop of the clamshell bead tip to the loop on the toggle clasp. Close the loop. Remove the masking tape or Bead Bug from the other end of the wire. Slide all the beads down toward the other finished end. Slide on the clamshell bead tip, then a crimp bead. Reach inside the clamshell with the chain-nose pliers and flatten the crimp bead. Trim the wire with the wire cutters. Close the clamshell over the crimp bead. Attach the loop of the clamshell to the loop of the clasp. Close the clamshell loop. • 2. Make The Beaded Chain Strand To make the bead chain strand, cut 2 crystals from the bead chain by cutting through the last two links in the bead chain. Remove the crystals and set them aside. To attach the bead chain to the clasp, cut a 3 piece of 26-gauge beading wire. Make a 90-degree bend in the wire about 1/3 of the way down the wire using the round-nose pliers. Reposition the pliers to the top of the bend and push the wire over the top jaw to make a partial loop. Reposition the bottom jaw in the loop and finish pulling the wire around to make complete the loop. Slide the last link of the bead chain into the loop. Hold the loop across with the pliers and wrap the tail around two times. Trim the end with the wire cutters. Slide on one of the crystals you cut from the bead chain. Make another wrapped loop in the wire sliding the clasp into the loop before finish the two wraps. Repeat to attach the other end of the bead chain to the other side of the clasp. • 3. Make The Chain Strand With the Charm To make the charm strand, slide the charm onto the 17 gold chain. To attach the chain to the clasp, make a wrapped loop connector as you did to connect the bead chain to the clasp. Use a gold seed bead in place of the blue crystal. Repeat to make a connector attaching the other end of the chain to the other side of the clasp. • We love how this layered necklace came together. You could make three different necklaces using these instructions. But we love how easy it is to wear this triple layered necklace using just one clasp!
