In the spring, Western-painted turtles begin to emerge from their nests along the shores of Elizabeth Lake in Cranbrook, BC. They face many predators on their journey from the beach to the water as well as habitat destruction by humans. The Rocky Mountain Naturalists have been working to protect these gentle creatures for the last 30 years and have engaged school groups and the community in “Turtle Day” to draw awareness. • Connect with CBC Vancouver online: • Website: https://www.cbc.ca/bc • TikTok:   / cbcvancouver   • Instagram:   / cbcvancouver   • Facebook:   / cbcvancouver   • • #CBCVancouver #westernpaintedturtles #RockyMountainNaturalists #BritishColumbia
