The Brisbane River Cod Recovery Project by the Somerset Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Assn (SWFSA). • Returning cod to the Brisbane River Catchment tributaries. This includes the Stanley River, Bremer River, Warrill Creek tributaries. • The Brisbane River Cod (Bumgur) has been extinct since around 1940. The Mary River Cod is thought to be almost identical and is deemed to be a suitable candidate to replace the now extinct Brisbane River Cod (Bumgur). This project has been issued a permit from @fisheriesqld to release Mary River Cod. • This video shows the first release of fingerlings into waters that have not had a cod present since the late 1930s / early 1940s. • SWFSA gratefully acknowledge the support from Somerset Regional Council for a grant under the Community Assistance Grants program and the assistance from many local landowners to access various waterways to release fingerlings.
