He is well known for his skits in the Punjabi language. He started his comedy career by participating in youth festivals and inter-college competitions. He won two gold medals from Punjabi University, Patiala for Shaheed Udham Singh Government College, Sunam. His second comedy album entitled Kulfi Garma Garm proved to be a huge success. Bhagwant Mann's comedy focuses on Indian issues – politicians, policemen, business departments, and sports. His first comedy album was with Jagtar Jaggi and together they were the most successful comedy partnership of the 1990s, creating many successful comedy albums. They also created a show for the Punjabi channel Alpha ETC Punjabi, called Jugnu Kehnda Hai. He is known for playing comic roles in Punjwood films.He worked in over 100 Punjwood films in a career spanning three decades. Originally a lawyer in India, he ventured into the film industry with great success. He studied law in Chandigarh and then practiced as a tax advocate for 8 years in Chandigarh itself. At the age of 35 he took to films. He became a popular Punjabi actor mostly because of his comedic roles and went on to star in numerous number of films. His popularity could be gauged from the fact that during the 1980s, with small exceptions, no major Punjabi film was made without him in a prime role, whether in a comedic role or as the main protagonist itself.
