This animation simplifies the cascade of events happening during pulsed laser ablation in liquid. In detail, pulsed laser ablation of a thin wire in water causes a shockwave and subsequently a cavitation bubble with microsecond lifetime. After collapse of the bubble, clusters and nanoparticles that are free of any ligands start to condense in the time scale of milliseconds to seconds (and even slower), building up gold nanoparticles. • By addition of the biomolecules in situ or subsequently (downstream) to the continuous gold nanoparticle source, functional nanoparticles like bioconjugates are easily accessible with highest purity. • ------: The projekt is supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (research see http://www.uni-due.de/barcikowski/for....
