A music album created by Mirian Kolev together with children from the autism spectrum. Through the expressive means of collaborative intuitive music making, the initiative aims to present autism in a new light, drawing attention to the extraordinary abilities of children on the spectrum • There's still a lot we don't know about autism. One reason for this is that people with autism spectrum disorders often communicate in ways that are radically different from ours, and because of this their inner worlds remain shrouded in mystery. Sometimes autistic people are considered to be developmentally delayed, when the truth is that they have both special needs and unique skills. The goal of this music project is to encourage children from the autism spectrum to develop these skills by offering them new ways of expression in the form of playing music with a variety of instruments in a group format. • Unlike conventional music, about which musical theories, tonal systems and compositional principles have been written for centuries, intuitive music is relatively little known today. It is a type of improvisation based on creating the moment without necessarily fixed rules and largely overlapping with free improvisation. Instead of a traditional musical score, performers can be given a variety of instructions and ideas, both verbal and visual. • Intuitive music-making is probably the progenitor of music - originating millennia before it was discovered and defined, it lies at the very foundation of Homo Sapiens' musicality. One of this project's goals is to give more visibility to some experimental musical practices, such as intuitive music and free improvisation. I believe that without setting pre-set frameworks and expectations, music can be expressed directly - just the way it springs from children's minds. In this case, it is not musical skills that are important, but the transmission of emotions through sound in its purest form. • The project was produced by Capturing Creativity and realized with the help of the Autism Association • Co-funded by National Culture Fund, Bulgaria • https://capturing-creativity.com/intu... • https://www.miriankolev.com • https://euerpi.bandcamp.com/
