Dashcam What Happens After Terminating a Pursuit

On a snowy winter night on February 24, 2023 around 11:00p, an Oak Forest Police Officer in southwest suburban Chicagoland attempted to stop a vehicle. After the vehicle fled in a reckless manner in snowy road conditions, the pursuit was quickly terminated. Not more than a few minutes later, officers relocated the vehicle and kept tabs on it as it drove recklessly and chaotically throughout a quiet neighborhood. • As you can hear in the video around the 5:00 mark, the department's pursuit policy restricts traffic-only pursuits. • The vehicle was eventually found crashed in the front yard of a local residence with no sign of the driver. Another officer located the offender a short time later while officers inventoried the scene and collected evidence. Due to the lack of available information, we do not know the final result of the case, but the individual was in court for the incident. • What we know for sure is that these offenders who choose to flee, will continue to wreak havoc on our roads, even when not being followed by police.
