That low pressure core that's been hanging around created even more atmospheric instability today with cumulus clouds becoming increasingly convective and towering, fighting to poke through a stable layer with a stratus cloud layer. Eventually the convective cumulus win out nearly forming thunderstorms in our immediate area.
