They key to repairing wood joints is making sure that you have all of the old glue removed before you begin adding the new glue and putting the parts of your furniture back together. Now you have to do this because the old glue will not allow the new glue to bond to the furniture. But that's a little bit harder than it sounds, so here's a few quick tips that'll make it easier. Now to loosen the joints, all you really need is some hot water and a cloth. Just soak your cloth in the hot water and wrap it around the joint. Now you wanna let as much water as possible to seep into the joint so that it softens any glue that may have oozed out over time. You wanna leave it here for about a minute, then take the cloth off and your rod should removed fairly easily. Now to get the glue out of the holes, just fill the holes with warm water and then leave it for a few minutes. Then just take a wood chisel or a screwdriver or a file, whatever you may have, and scrap the glue out with that. Now to get the glue off of the end of your rods, again, just wrap the warm cloth around the end of the rod and leave it for a few minutes. Then all you need is a utility knife or even a pocketknife works great, and just scrape the rest of it off. • • MORE FROM YOUR NEW HOUSE • Featured videos: •    • YNH Featured Videos   • Factory Tours and Product Testing: •    • Did You Know?   • Making your new house safer: •    • Making Your New House Safer   • Quick Tips: •    • Quick Tips - Great, yet simple ideas ...   • Great DIY Projects from Your New House: •    • DIY - Do It Yourself with Your New House   • Choosing and Using Tools with Carmen Ciricillo: •    • Choosing and Using Tools with Carmen   • Adventures in Homebuilding: •    • Adventures in Homebuilding   • Gardening and Landscaping: •    • Gardening and Landscaping
