A beaver lodge is a very solid construction. Twigs, soil, clay, mud, small rocks, bark and plant material are piled up by the beaver using its fore paws and carried pressed between their paws and chin. • During spells of heavy rainfall, the outer mud surface is partially destroyed, beavers may then display lodge repair behaviours.
