Vets may tell you your dog needs less protein in the diet because it stresses the liver but they do not take into account that your dog is a carnivore, handles raw food very well and is in dire need of fresh food to support healing. • Your dog needs fresh foods to rehydrate. Kibble contains around 17% moisture while fresh foods contain around 80% moisture and kidney disease is not only brought into being partly from chronic dehydration, it also continues to dehydrate your dog and that's very bad. • The other main issue with kibble is the high level of additives such as preservatives, colors and flavor enhancers. These all have to be continually excreted via your dogs kidneys, causing stress, stones, bladder infection and urinary tract infections. • Your dog must have fresh food in the diet, so check out the Healthier Kibble Diet video link in the description above. • Unfortunately, vets will offer restricted specialist diets that do nothing more than complicate the situation with further suffering. • Over vaccination can be a big factor for kidney disease in dogs, as many pet parents get annual vaccinations when it's completely unnecessary. Keep vaccinations to a minimum and certainly no more than once every three years as per AVMA guidelines. • If you can get your dogs diet changed or at minimum boosted via the healthier kibble diet and incorporate some natural home remedy options, you'll go a long way to comforting your dog and helping them to greater longevity and wellbeing. • ------------------ • Disclosure: I participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate program that earns fees by linking to Amazon.com and related sites and I'll often link to helpful and effective products I and my customers use and at zero cost to you.
