Maigret Theme 1960

There have been film and TV versions of Georges Simenon's stories of the French police detective, Jules Maigret, all over Europe. The 1960s British series starred Rupert Davies as the eponymous hero. The music was written by the great Australian composer, Ron Grainer, who spent most of working life in the UK and wrote TV themes for such programmes as Doctor Who , The Prisoner , Steptoe and Son , and many others. • I took the sheet music for this tune, transposed it from the original key of Bb into D, then stripped out the lead melody line to play on mandolin. I then played the piano score, minus the lead, and added the mandolin as the main tune. • http://www.mjra.net/WillFly/
