Originally recorded August 6, 2023. • While ‪@dynatrak‬ was here, he brought his meter to see how the new capacitor the A/C tech put in is doing. This was because after that cap was replaced, although the unit ran fine, it seemed a bit weak to me. • We opened the panel up and what did we find? More clowning around by those jokers! They completely neglected to hook my Kickstart unit back up! Absolutely appalling! These are PROS and they couldn't do one single thing right. Now, should I have checked their work? Yes. But they are pros, and should know better. Starting the compressor without the Kickstart was about 37 amps on one leg. Starting the compressor with the Kickstart, was only 7 amps on one leg. HUGE difference! • While we were in there, we checked ALL of the connections inside, and tightened every single terminal to ensure all were making proper connection. This may have been the original problem all along. All connections are good and tight now, so hopefully I will have no more trouble from this unit. • And, of course while in one, why not take a look at the 4-ton and make sure everything's good in there? So we did. While the connections were all good and tight, the back part of the coil was absolutely filthy. This is more or less a design flaw with the unit, the back part of the coil doesn't have the best airflow or accessibility. More modern units have corrected this oversight. We cleaned the coil with LA's Totally Awesome, along with some other of Jay's Special Blend™, and used the best watering tool for outdoor potted plants to wash it down.
