Dr. Makani Lew, DC used the Avant class LZ30 3b laser (chronic and infrared setting) on a sprained index finger MCP (metacarpal phalangeal joint). Following the treatment, the person was instructed to avoid positions that had made it worse and stretching the area for a few days. The laser treatments were aimed at the area of complaint and the adjacent muscles. The initial treatment session was 12 minutes long and the dosage was about 720 total Joules. Pain relief was excellent after the first session, but, because it's hard to avoid stretching an index finger, the person irritated the joint again, therefore it was necessary to repeat the treatment sessions 3 times over 3 weeks. • Dr. Makani Lew, DC, DACRB is a chiropractor and rehabilitation exercise specialist in Aptos, CA. https://freetofeelhealthy.blogspot.com/
