00:00 Newts Eat Snails • Buy Snails Locally on Craigslist: • https://newyork.craigslist.org/search... • Reddit / aquarium_garden • Blog: https://rndmbits.blogspot.com/2024/11... • All my projects https://website www.fewdoit.com • 00:05 The smell of this magnificent Colombian Ramshorn snail attracts a newt. • It smells delicious! • Eastern newts eat only what they can swallow in one whole piece. • This snail is too large for the newt to eat it. • Lucky for my newts I have colonies of smaller sized snails in all my aquariums. • Here you can see my Newt-a-girl named SheShy on the hunting path. • She is looking for young up to 5 millimeters size Bladder and common Ramshorn snails. • Both male newts seem to be very busy at this moment in staring at each other contest. • 01:03 Here the newt-a-girl found a perfect size delicious Ramshorn snail. • Lightening fast attack! • It takes a couple minutes for Easter Newts to fully swallow a snail. • And then the hunt will go on. • But remember - newts do not attack large adult snails. • Adult Ramshorn and Bladder snails are very proficient breeders thriving in freshwater aquariums. • A couple dozens of adult snails provide s very steady supply of baby snails for newts to feed on. • This makes snails one of the best live food to culture right in aquariums with newts! • Though, with 3 newts to feed I also have to keep snails in a couple separate aquariums 😉 • Have fun and happy Newts 😊
