This is because I have a soft spot for this specific category of off road motorcycles - the trail bike category. Out of all the dirt bikes that I have ridden in my life, the one that is the most fun to ride is my 2005 Yamaha TTR230, which is classified as a trail bike. It's small, nimble, and has just enough power to conquer 99% of anything I decide to point the front wheel at. To say that I love it is an understatement, but I absolutely love it. • Unfortunately, in the past 10 years the dirt bike industry has shifted away from the larger displacement trail bikes in favor of more performance oriented enduro, motocross and even dual sport motorcycles. Gone are the days of the old Honda XR's and Suzuki DR's, which are considered by some to be the best dirt bikes ever made. Naturally, when Kawasaki announced 2 brand new trail bikes back in 2020, I could not be more excited and I knew I had to test ride the larger of the two - the Kawasaki KLX300R. • The Kawasaki KLX300R addresses the biggest shortcomings of the modern crop of trail bikes. The KLX300R is a full size, fuel injected, liquid cooled trail bike that has decent suspension, disk brakes and the largest displacement available at 292cc's. This type of bike does not exist in the trail bike world right now, so it's super exciting to see Kawasaki bring back the KLX300R in a more modern form to address a missing segment in the market.
