Federico Fellini In Love With Life • There is nothing that can be said about Fellini which hasn't been said a million times, so I'll keep this short. Suffice to say, there was no other film-maker who made me feel that life was worth living quite as much. Odd, perhaps, because he never shied from showing us the vulgar and the venal (especially in his classic take on Ancient Rome in his adaptation of Petronius' 'Satyricon'). But, amid the horrors and there are horrors aplenty, there is so much worth living for. Cabiria Ceccarelli after suffering disappointments, betrayals and heartbreak smiling with the beautiful young people around her. Juliet and her strange neighbours. Guido never knowing how to live or be brave but nevertheless loving it all. Casanova, constantly in love but never having a love greater than a wind up doll.
