The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a way of describing language ability and is often used to help language learners choose learning materials and courses at the right level. • The CEFR has six levels, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for users who are proficient in the language. • A1-A2 (Beginner-Elementary): Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases. Can introduce themselves and ask/answer simple questions. • B1 (Intermediate): At intermediate level, learners can handle everyday topics and travel situations. Can write simple texts and share personal experiences. • B2 (Upper Intermediate): Learners who achieve B1 Intermediate level can understand complex texts and discuss a range of topics fluently. Can write clear, detailed texts on various subjects. • C1 (Advanced): C1-level learners can understand a wide range of long, complex texts. They can interact and express themselves fluently and spontaneously and use language flexibly and effectively in social, academic and professional situations. • C2 (Proficiency): Learners with a C1 level in English can easily understand almost everything they hear or read.
