Dovecotes or pigeon houses were built at monasteries to provide meat to fasting monks. Later, they were also found on large country estates. Some of them are still around. Here are three examples and how you add them to #OpenStreetmap. • 00:00 Introduction • 01:01 Inside Woodstock Dovecote • 02:15 Dovecotes on Wikipedia • 02:47 dovecote tag for OpenStreetMap • 03:52 Mapping Woodstock Dovecote • 06:52 Adding the footpath leading to the dovecote • 08:28 Adding wikipedia and wikidata links to the dovecote • 10:15 Mapping Kilcooley Abbey dovecote • 12:50 Mapping Adare dovecote • 16:22 Searching for dovecotes using overpass-turbo • (BIG THANKS to Anne M. for providing the lift to Woodstock and the company.) • I have since found and added more dovecotes to OSM, have a look: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1aK4. • #keepdiscovering
