Aputure Amaran Tri-8c Bi-Color LED Light Review. The Aputure Tri-8c is a full featured LED light that is durable and portable. The 10.3” x 7.8” panel is made from rugged aircraft-grade aluminum and an impact-proof polycarbonate casing. The compact design is only 3.6 thick which allows it to be used in many situations where other LED panels can’t. The Amaran Tri-8c has 888 LEDs which emit an output equivalent to a 600W tungsten light source. They produce a 45-degree beam angle with a brightness of 23,000 lux at a distance of 1.6 feet. The Tri-8c has a wide color temperature that's variable from a warm 2300K to a cool 6800K. This makes matching other light fixtures or ambient light situations simple. The unit has a CRI or Color Rendering Index rating of 95 out of 100, indicating the ability of the light to show object colors naturally. The Amaran Tri-8c comes with a fanless thermal management system that allows for efficient heat airflow while maintaining a durable structure. The unit is cooled by gold lamp beads on the inside, a custom aluminum plate, and flow-type cooling fins. The Tri-8c can be powered using it’s AC adapter it can run on V-Mount-type batteries or it can be powered using the two included Sony F970 batteries. The batteries can be recharged while the unit is being powered by the AC adapter. The Tri-8c can be stand-mounted via its 1/4 -20 tap and it’s included tilt adjustable light stand adapter. You can also go handheld using the two stainless steel U-handles at the back of the fixture. The Amaran Tri-8 comes with an EZ Box softbox. It softens the Tri-8c's output while providing high quality diffusion. The EZ Box also prevents spill light and reduces contrast. The unit comes with a 2.4 GHz remote that is used to adjust the brightness and color temperature of the Tri-8c.
