KSA has always been the region’s most important market for the media industry. Indeed, in addition to being the largest economy in the region, Saudi Arabia’s audiovisual media market—covering video, audio, e-gaming, and advertising—is the biggest by market size in the Arab world and has been at the center of the business strategies of all major local and pan-Arab players for decades. However, the Saudi media market has traditionally suffered from a high degree of economic leakage, as the majority of economic activity happening in the media value chain and targeting the Saudi market occurs outside of the Kingdom. Lack of localization has been a long-standing pain point of the Saudi media sector, and the country’s latest efforts, in line with vision 2030, aim to address it through enhanced regulation, localization incentives, and export support. • In this context, our “What's Next Dialogues: Future of Media” panel, in partnership with CNBC Arabia, discusses the latest media trends, challenges, and strategies, including the rise of digital platforms and the levers available to the Saudi private and public stakeholders to address and benefit from them.
