CORRECTION: Around the 09:00 mark, I say an EPO is like an HMO, but with a few more restrictions. I should have said and EPO is like a PPO with restrictions. • What's the difference? • HMOs have the most restrictions out of the different plan types; requiring you to stay in network, choose a primary care provider (PCP), and get a referral from your PCP to see a specialist. • EPOs require you to stay in network, but you DON'T need to pick one PCP or get a referral. • PPOs don't require you to stay in network, select a PCP, nor get a referral. • _______ • Open enrollment begins November 1 and closes January 15, so now is the time to make your insurance plan selection. • Not quite sure how to get started with shopping for health insurance on the marketplace? Feel free to tag along as I set up my account on Pennie (PA's alternative to Healthcare.gov) and choose a health plan for my family. • I obviously can't pick a health insurance plan for you, but I'll give you a peek behind the curtain, show you what the marketplace looks like, define a few terms, and talk through what I'm looking for in a plan as I compare different options. • #healthinsurance
