Should Spain Apologise for the Reconquista

Recently a Muslim leader from the Ishbilia Mosque in Seville, Spain, requested a formal apology from the King of Spain for the persecution of Muslims under the Spanish crown following the Reconquista (Reconquest) in the 16th and 17th Centuries. The statements made on Facebook by the leader highlight persecutions, murders and expulsions, without acknowledging that for a period of almost 800 years, when various Islamic dynasties ruled areas of the Iberian Peninsula, almost the exact same actions were commited by Muslim rulers against the dhimmi (non-Muslim i.e Christians and Jews) population. • All informed discussion is welcome in the comments but please remain respectful of your fellow youtube-goers and remain civil.
