My 6 month old son, Bennett, displaying his first cluster of infantile spasms. These are not the typical startle/moro reflex type spasms, and no hypsarrythmia was present on an EEG. We were diagnosed by a specialist in IS, after many pediatric neurologists missing this diagnosis. I want people to be aware of the various presentations of IS. • We were at high risk for these spasms due to severe HIE from a brain injury at birth. • Spasms occur in clusters with stereotyped movements, and in this video occur at :01, :17, :32, :41, :49, :56, and 1:09.
