In this video we'll show you how to replace the valve cover gasket of an N46 engine. It should work similarly for an N42 engine, the part numbers might be different though. • Symptoms for an old, embrittled gasket is oil leakage, unruly engine run, sometimes smell of burnt oil when breaking. Sometimes, when the eccentric shaft sensor connector is full of oil, Valvetronic errors may occur. • The gasket can be bought in a set from Elring (BMW supplier), often times the eccentric shaft sensor connector seals as well as the ignition coil tube seals are included. • Preparatory Work: • ➥ Remove Ignition Coil Cover: •    • BMW E90 N46 Zündspulendeckel demontieren   • Part Numbers: • ➥ Valve Cover Gasket: 11120032224 ( https://amzn.to/2RjMzdB ) • ➥ Eccentric Shaft Sensor Seals: 11377502022 • ➥ 2x Ignition Coil Tube Seal Small: 11377514008 • ➥ 2x Ignition Coil Tube Seal Large: 11377514007 • ➥ Lower Strut Brace Screw: 07146963730 • ➥ Upper Strut Brace Screw: 07146954965 • ➥ Sealing Agent: 07589062376 • Required Tools: • ➥Socket Wrench, Extension, Joint • ➥ SW-10 • ➥ SW-8 • ➥ E14 Torx • ➥ E18 Torx • ➥ Torque Wrench • Tightning Torques: • ➥ Strut Brace Lower Screw: 40 Nm + 60° • ➥ Strut Brace Upper Screw: 100 Nm + 100° • ➥ Valve Cover Screws: 10 Nm • Cost of Repair: • Original: ~130 EUR • OEM: ~60 EUR (Elring) • Difficulty: Hard • Was the video helpful to you?
