Striped tenrek is a mammal of the tenrek family. It is distributed in the eastern and northern regions of the island of Madagascar. The hedgehog is very small. An adult specimen reaches 16-17 cm and weighs 80-250 g. Coloration is black with brownish-brown markings. There is a distinctive stripe running from the muzzle behind the ears, on the back of the head, back, and sides of long needles.
