Pink graminus stem borer (Sesamia inferens) is a minor pest of rice crop but its sporadic attack has been reported on wheat crop particularly in rice wheat cropping system regions. Its last generation over winters and survives on wheat crop in winter season. Its minor attack has been reported in those wheat fields where crop has mainly been planted through zero tillage method. Larvae of this feeble insect feed on wheat crop, farmers consider it as army worm (Mythimna separate) and ask for spray. In this video, we have directed the farmers not to bother about this minor pest and there is not any recommendation of insecticide for its control in wheat crop. • Farmers are worried about an insect that is damaging the wheat leaves. I have observed that pest and consulted with a professional insects expert to identify that insect. This is a pink graminus stem borer that is a pest of rice crop. This is the remaining insects after rice crop that are eating wheat leaves to sustain and save their life. But there is no need to worry or to use any pesticide spray to control this pest. This will not damage the yield of wheat crop. • #Wheat • #StemBorer • #CropReformer
