The year was 1897 and Sebastian Spering Kresge (S.S Kresge) a traveling salesman at the time, met a variety store pioneer Frank winfield woolworth. That year Kresge would invest roughly $7,000 he had saved from his job into a Five and Dime Store which was term given to stores that sold a variety of inexpensive household and personal goods, Usually prices anywhere from 5-10 Cents.
