Ever since I touched the BMW R60/5 cast aluminum parts, I knew I had to coat them with a product in order to protect them from debris and chemicals. I was looking into plating, anodizing and many paint coatings, but most companies didn't recommend their products for my specific application. • The engine is probably one of the most important aspects of this motorcycle restoration and I want it to stand out. After searching online for a specific coating I landed on Cerakote's website. • I've heard of them before, but I never had the need to opt for their product. After communicating via email about their products, I was advised to use their C-Series Cerakote. This is an air-cure product and it offers great durability, but it also allows heat dissipation which is perfect for the 600cc air-cooled BMW engine! • With all that information it was still up to me to choose the color and I must say: IT WAS NOT EASY! I was deciding between Satin Nickel and Glacier Silver . • In the end, I chose Glacier Silver as it looked like the closest match to the brand-new aftermarket valve cover from EuroMotoElectrics. • After ordering my first pint of Cerakote I decided to walk you through a quick step-by-step video.
