A lengthy review of SteamOS. • This review is generally cut into several pieces: • 1. User Interface 1:36 • 2. Controller Support 7:39 • 3. GPU Swapping 18:28 • 4. Gaming Experience 22:24 • This review is in no way all encompassing or absolute. It's just what I've experienced thus far. • I've attempted to condense the video as much as possible without omitting any information I think could be worthwhile to know about. • The focus on the UI is simply if it's responsive, looks nice and easy to navigate. While I don't go over all it's features, I do note two important things missing. Proper Display options such as resolution setting, and a lack of an FPS counter that exists on the desktop client. • The controllers I try out with SteamOS are the PS4 Dualshock 4, PS3 Dualshock 3, Xbox 360 Wired controller, Logitech Rumblepad 2 and the Logitech Extreme3DPro. • The GPU's I swap between are the AMD HD5750 and Nvidia GTX 680. • During the Gaming Experience portion, I'm not looking at framerates so much but more to whether games launch and close cleanly and are generally playable. • I would have loved to focus on framerates but am still unable to get Voglperf or GLXOSD compiled and working in SteamOS (cmake nightmare). • The monitor is a ProLink LED PRO2401TW TV/Monitor that supports 1080p. I run it at 1080p/60Hz the entire time, via HDMI connection. • I apologize in advance if I've made any mistakes, I attempted this video to the best of my knowledge.
