A short documentary of a trip to the Kalimantan Kratom Forest • Pontianak - Putusibau - Jongkong. • West Kalimantan, Indonesia. • March 2023. • Some time ago, we received news that our friends, representatives of the Česko-Slovenská Asociace za KRATOM, planned to visit Indonesia to see and create a short documentary about the processes involved in producing our Kratom products in Indonesia. • Then we chose Jongkong, a subdistrict in West Kalimantan, where our farming partners grow and process Kratom, as well as one of the Kratom farming centers in Indonesia. • The journey to get to Jongkong from Pontianak takes 11-12 hours by car also crossing the Kapuas River by boat. • In Jong Kong, we visited our farming partner's kratom plantation and saw how the Kratom leaves are harvested from the trees. • We also took our friend from the Czech Kratom Association to the raw processing warehouse and showed them in detail how we produce raw Kratom material in each batch. • In the processing warehouse, we also demonstrated our standard to maintain product quality and consistency through the drying, sorting, and grinding stages. • During the sorting process, we worked with locals to help us process the dried Kratom leaves into crumbs. We want to help them raise their income. • After the sorting process is complete, we take the crumbs to the transit warehouse before sending them to our storage warehouse in Pontianak. The purpose is to facilitate mobilization and quality control processes. • We also took our friend to see Kratom trees in their natural habitat in the Kalimantan forest. Some of these trees are over 50 years old. • In addition to visiting the plantations of some of our farming partners, we also took them to see a plantation location that experienced failed harvest cycles due to floods. During these cycles, Kratom leaves are often infested with caterpillars, it causing the leaves to dry and rot. • This is due to the geographical conditions of West Kalimantan. Flooding has become a frequent occurrence during the rainy season. • In recent years, the Kratom industry has had a positive impact on the people of West Kalimantan, both economically and environmentally. • Most of the people have experienced an increase in income, and many of them have become aware of the need to continue to cultivate and preserve the natural habitat of Kalimantan. • Currently, it is estimated that over 2 million Kratom trees are growing in various regions of West Kalimantan. • Furthermore, this short journey once again taught us to appreciate and preserve our environment.
