NEET AIPMT Question Finding Electric Potential at common center of two spheres • Electric potential is a physical quantity that explains the flow of current from one place to other. It is treated like a scalar quantity and it is measured with a unit called volt. It is the amount of the work done in getting a unit positive charge from infinite to a particular place. • When multiple charges are separated by a certain distance, we can find the effective potential at a given point due to all of them. We need not bother about the direction of it as it is a scalar quantity. • We cannot get a neutral point in terms of voltage between two as they actually add up at the point. We can get a neutral point of potential between dissimilar charges. Simply because potential due to a positive charge is positive and potential due to a negative charge is negative. At a common point if both of them cancel and hence we can get a neutral point. • Capacitor is a device used to store the charge and its corresponding energy. Capacity is the ability of the device to store the charge. The charge stored in a device is directly proportional to the potential difference it has with the other parts from where the charge happens to flow. To eliminate the proportionality, a constant called capacity is used. And of course it does not depend on the charge and potential difference and depends on the area of the plates and inversely proportional to the distance of separation between the plates. • Capacitors can be of different shapes and one of the popular one is parallel plate capacitor. It consists of two thin plates kept parallel to each other and there may be air or any non conducting materiel between them.It is measured with a SI unit called farad. • IIT-JEE and NEET Physics is is a Complete Physics Resource for preparing IIT-JEE,NEET,CBSE,ICSE and IGCSE. All Physics topics are divided into multiple sub topics and are explained in detail using concept videos and synopsis. Lots of problems in each topic are solved to understand the concepts clearly. • Source for Competitions can be found at http://www.venkatsacademy.com/ • #neetpreviousyearquestion • #jeephysics • #neetphysics • #electricpotential • #capacitance
